Struthers, Wells Engines in Burma

Not surprisingly, in the former British Empire, American engines are not common. However, Struthers, Wells of Warren, Pensylvania must have had some kind of local agency as we have seen quite a few of their engine - some carry the company name on the valve chest cover, others can be assigned with a degree of certainty as the design is unusual by Burmese standrads. 

This was one of our first which we found in Irrawaddy in 2005:

This next two examples were working in Irrawaddy Division in 2006

In the north of Irrawaddy Division we found this scruffy example working in 2009:

Bolt on crosshead guides work very well until the bolts shear, these were rocking with the engine:

This engine, in Bago Division in 2009, is perhaps the best presented example we have seen, :
