Douglas and Grant Engines in Burma

Douglas and Grant of Kircaldy, Scotland made rice mill equipment as well as steam engines.

This Douglas and Grant engine had been working during our 2005 visit to Irrawaddy Division no doubt would be working again when the main 2009/10 season started:

Way back in 1999, my first ever rice mill steam engine in Burma was a similar engine -not the same one relocated when the Madauk mill closed as it is 'opposite handed':
