North Sumatra

In October 1971, Medan shed still had a variety of active steam power. In between the 'native' 0-4-4T and 2-4-2T lurks a Javanese import, a C54 4-6-0 which had been brought over for passenger service. However the arrival of diesels meant that they did little work and I have yet to see a picture of one on a train here. (PH)
