C2403 passes the time of day at Lempujangan shed in Yogya on 6th April 1977. A close inspection of the track shows the remains of the standard (4ft 8½in) gauge, one of the few traces of the once extensive system in this area. An operational nightmare, which originally required two changes of gauge between Jakarta and Surabaya, it was converted to 3ft 6in (1067mm) gauge during the Japanese occupation. (RD)
