C1240

C1240 was constructed by Hartmann (2736/1902) a compound development of the C11. It was originally Staats Spoorwegen 296 and later 480. This 2-6-0T had one outside cylinders 380 x 509 mm and one outside cylinder 580 x 509 mm with driving wheel diameter of 1106 mm. Boiler pressure was 12.0 kg/cm2, grate area 1.1 m2 with a heating surface of 61.1 m2. Overall weight was 33.6 tons with 27.1 tons available for adhesion. C1240 is preserved at the Ambarawa Railway Museum. In the 1970s they were found widely distributed, particularly in East and Central Java.
