Stationary Steam at Stoomcentrum Maldegem |

An interesting selection of machinery is preserved here, Thomas Kautzor has supplied the first four pictures from a September 2013 visit: Kevin Hoggett has supplied supplementary information and the final six pictures (added 21st October 2013) - there is little if any on the website www.stoomcentrum.be/. This steam fire engine is Beduwe 245/1910 and was built for the town of Gullegem in 1913 (http://www.steel-wheels.net/sferegister.html).
This portable engine is a French Merlin, built in 1923.
This is a large tandem compound horizontal stationary engine by Van Den Kerchove of Gent. They were the main builder of stationary steam in Belgium. This engine was built in 1921 and came from a textile mill, ”Weverijen van Themssche” in Sint Amandsberg. Unfortunately, the museum has no boiler, but it can be turned over slowly with an electric motor on the turning gear.
This is a small Mumford marine engine, compound, which originally came from a steam yacht and was later used to power a work pontoon in Zeebrugge docks.
Finally the museum's apprentices have constructed a model based on a Van Den Kerchove original.
