Moçambique had narrow gauge railways too. The best known was the 750mm gauge public carrier railway at Vila de João Belo (now Xai-Xai). Somehow it survived the civil war and a tour group were able to charter a train in August 1999. Shortly after it suffered severe flooding from which it has yet to recover. (TN) |
