It was too much to hope that the water column at Namacurra would be serviceable. Instead a portable pump was used to get water out of an adjacent well. By the time this had been done more tubes had failed and there were leaks into the firebox. It was a Saturday and the fitters at Quelimane were off for the weekend. (OG)
