Thomas Kautzor reports on his visit to Madrid on 12th March 2017

RENFE 0-6-0DE 303-201 (ex 12301, MTM 134/1966) is plinthed in the center of a traffic circle 250m west of the Valdelasfuentas Cercanias station in the Alcobendas suburb north of Madrid.

Freshly-overhauled RCAM 0-6-0T 4 'Aliva' (OK 11198/1926) is now the operating locomotive at metre gauge CIFVM La Poveda. You should read a report of Thomas's earlier 2016 visit.

0-6-0WT "Arganda" (Henschel 20605/1925) was expecting its new boiler to be delivered in 04/2017 (chassis seen in picture below), so they should soon have two operational steam locomotives.

The Spanish National Railway Museum at Madrid-Delicias was holding its monthly (2nd weekend of the month) 'Mercado de Motores' weekend, when it opens up to craft and food vendors and gets thousands of visitors. I made an attempt for the unrestored collection outside, which is normally not accessible to visitors, and was able to take some photos before being caught up by a museum employee.

RENFE 030-0224 (Cockerill 1898 of 1895, 1941 ex OESTE 161, 1928 ex MCP 61) plinthed on Avenida Pío XII in front of the ADIF headquarters, just east of Madrid-Chamartín station.
