Marcle Steam Rally (23rd - 24th July, 2016)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2016 introduction and overall index.

Marcle was our first rally when we came to the UK and it is also our 'home' event. It is very traditional, the health and safety mafia are kept away and the stewards allow sensible movement but ensure the public and engines are kept at a respectable distance when necessary. Unlike other rallies, there are no ring events except those involving the exhibits, in this respect it could possibly be more 'family friendly' although it must mean they run a tight ship financially.

We attended on Saturday which had sunny spells off and on all day before clearing in the late afternoon, Sunday would have been largely overcast. The reports are accessible below this picture.

Engine details are by observation backed up by David Collidge's Steam Scenes site http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/ which has consistently proved to be the most reliable source of information.
