Hollowell Steam Rally (1st - 2nd, July 2017)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2017 introduction and overall index.

Hollowell is different from most rallies we attend in that it attracts a 'large crowd (in every sense), a clientele who consume even more burgers and doughnuts both at the show and apparently elsewhere than 'average'. It gives the place an interesting atmosphere. I digress, Hollowell produced a fair number of engines as it always does and enjoyed a glorious day on the Sunday and I assume from our experience at Heddington, on the Saturday as well. If I had a criticism, it would be that it could have been better balanced, there was no ploughing engine,  no large showman's engine and just one wagon and one portable. As usual, more than half the engines were parked up facing (slightly west of) north, but fortunately Sunday's best sunshine occurred from about 13.00 coinciding with the grand parade.
