TD1002

TD1002 was constructed by Werkspoor (556/1926). It was originally Staats Spoorwegen 402T. This 0-8-0T had two outside cylinders 300 x 340 mm with driving wheel diameter of 660 mm. Boiler pressure was 12.0 kg/cm2, grate area 0.7 m2 with a heating surface of 29.8 m2 and a superheater surface of 11.5 m2. Overall weight was 17.5 tons. TD1002 was for a long time preserved at Tanahabang shed in Jakarta, but was moved to outside PTKA head-quarters in Jalan Gereja, Bandung in September 2009. These 600mm gauge locomotives worked the branches around Cikampek and Karawang in West Java until the early 1970s, the other 600mm branch at Ambulu in East Java having closed rather earlier.
