C1218 was constructed by Hartmann (2152/1896) a compound development of the C11. It was originally Staats Spoorwegen 229 and later 457. This 2-6-0T had one outside cylinders 380 x 509 mm and one outside cylinder 580 x 509 mm with driving wheel diameter of 1106 mm. Boiler pressure was 12.0 kg/cm2, grate area 1.1 m2 with a heating surface of 61.1 m2. Overall weight was 33.6 tons with 27.1 tons available for adhesion. In the 1970s they were found widely distributed, particularly in East and Central Java. Having been relocated from Cepu by a group of foreign railway enthusiasts in 2002 C1218 is preserved at Ambarawa and was restored by PTKA in 2005/6. Click here for more pictures.
